Defunct Smoke Stacks from the South Pier
I understand I have a love affair with the urban waterfront that is best saved for drunks, fishermen, and the homeless. I am rarely "on" the water and that doesn't do all that much for me. I can enjoy it for periods of time- like hours of an event....but the effort to get smaller boats to the water; or the upkeep and expense of anything larger- the effort just isn't worth the amount of enjoyment I get out of being "On the water"
"In the water"- Cabbage Can't Swim- is a joke my friends won't let die.
Technically - I think I can swim. Physically probably not for all that long- so I could swim- I just haven't often seen the need.
But being near the water - all types. And usually I am in LOVE LOVE LOVE- with isolated places with pristine water and scenery. But there is an allure to me about the contrast between man made objects and the natural world- and how industry abuts it here so closely.
This was inspired by a very nice walk with Winnie this summer.
