Sacred Window
I often find I learn the answers to my questions while painting.
I got a unique view of Sacred Heart the other day when I went to circle the block to dive in the garbage for a few windows. I was in an alley between 27th and 28th and looked up - and really appreciated the view.
I made it look like this - not exact but you certainly get the idea.
While I was painting the front at 6:20 this morning I was reflecting on a conversation my father Russell Shadeck, Winnie Oberrath and I were having last week - when I told my dad he had enough license plates.
He asked “What do I need more of?”
I suggested vacation and he was sure that wasn’t it.
And we kind of just let the topic die.
But I was thinking this morning “What do I really want more of? What do I really really want more of “I thought for about 45 seconds of so as I was painting - what do I need more of?
And my breath fogged up the glass a tiny bit
and I caught it in my downward peripheral vision
What is the only thing I need more of-
breaths.
That’s it.
That is all we really need more of.
